5 Tips for a Stress-Free Senior Portrait Session
Being a senior has enough stress already! Your senior portrait session should be a RELIEF from all that stress, not an addition to it! My goal is to have every session be enjoyable and memorable.
Tip #5 - Find the right Photographer
Your photographer will be your partner and guide on this journey, find someone who's personality resonates with your own and matches your energy. If your photographer offers a free consultation, take advantage of that time and get to know one another. Be ready to express your ideas and personality and think about what goals you have. Someone who is open and inviting you to be yourself and share whatever is on your mind will go along way to your peace of mind. A photographer who puts you at ease can make all the difference.
Tip #4 - Be Comfortable!
If you don't FEEL comfortable in your photos you probably won't LOOK comfortable. Wear what suits you. Wear what you feel most confidant in. Wear your favorites. If you're not thinking about your clothes during the shoot then you're not stressing over them, so where what fits well. Don't worry about the "perfect" outfit but find something you like.
Tip #3 - Find your favorite spots
The location you choose to have your shoot can mean as much as your clothing. Being in a meaningful or fun place can be very comforting and inspiring. Find something that suits your personality and mood. A relaxing park? A rustic barn? An active urban area? A warm recital hall? Go for a special place that you connect with. Wausau has so many great outdoor areas and places for a session. Some favorites are Oak Island, downtown, Eau Claire Dells, Sunflower fields, local farms, and of course, Rib Mountain!
Tip #2 - Bring A Friend
I think photoshoots should be fun and even twice the fun with a friend who you can trust to bring out the best of you. That goofy friend who always makes you smile. That reassuring friend that makes you feel confidant in who you are. That friend you've been with since Kindergarten and knows all your embarrassing moments and loves you the more for them. Having someone to enjoy the time with makes for great memories.
Tip #1 - BE YOURSELF!
All those tips really add up to just this one... BE YOURSELF! Embrace who you are and let each aspect of the photoshoot echo your personality. Quiet? Goofy? Energetic? Shy? Expressive? Ambitious? Plain? Wild? It's all good! Be who you are. If you have a hobby, sport, or performing art that means alot to you then work that in!
Find a photographer who will bring out the best of your personality. Wear clothing that speaks to who you are. Find a location that resonates your vibe. Be with people who love you for you. Not only will you enjoy the results of your shoot alot more but you'll enjoy the whole process alot more with alot less stress!
